Kofi Annan cancels visit to India

October 10, 2003 03:58 IST

United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan has cancelled his visit to India scheduled from October 12 to 14, UN sources said on Thursday.

They said Annan cancellation is to do with his preoccupation with Iraq at the headquarters.

Earlier, Annan had planned to travel to Sri Lanka and India before attending the Organisation of Islamic Conference summit in Malaysia.

But he had cancelled his visit to Sri Lanka earlier. Sri Lankan press reports had said that the visit there was cancelled following differences with government on Annan's possible meeting with LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran.
