The Delhi high court on Tuesday dismissed the bail applications of Vikas and Vishal -- son and nephew of Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament D P Yadav, who are facing trial in the Nitish Katara murder case.

Justice R C Chopra rejected the bail pleas of the Yadav brothers saying the accused could not be released on bail until the testimony of their sister Bharati was recorded by the trial court.

The court, however, gave them liberty to approach the trial court for bail after recording of Bharati's testimony.

This was their first bail application in the high court.

Vikas and Vishal, lodged in Tihar jail for over a year, are accused of kidnapping and murdering Katara, a business executive and son of a senior bureaucrat.

The trial of the case was transferred to a Delhi court following a Supreme Court direction on a petition filed by the victim's mother Neelam Katara apprehending that fair trial was not possible in Ghaziabad.

The prosecution alleged that Vikas and Vishal eliminated Katara on February 17 last year as they did not like his friendship with their sister.

Vikas is also facing trial in model Jessica Lal murder case wherein he is accused of destroying evidence.

Lal was shot dead allegedly by Manu, son of former minister Vinod Sharma, at a south Delhi restaurant owned by socialite Bina Ramani on the intervening night of April 29-30, 1999, for refusing to serve him liquor.
