Some 50 feet away from Ground Zero, the jewellery stores with their glass facades were largely spared total devastation. The jewellers thus got back to work faster than other businessmen in the trading quarter.
Zaveri Bazar has come to symbolise Mumbai's resilience and indomitable spirit. An area where Hindus and Muslims suffered almost equally, an area where both communities are equally determined that they will not allow communal tensions to emerge, that they will not be beaten by fear and terror.
