Delhi Industries Minister Deep Chand Bandhu dies

Delhi Industries Minister Deep Chand Bandhu died on Wednesday night following an infection in his intestine and multi-organ failure.

Bandhu, who was admitted to Apollo hospital earlier in the day after he developed the infection, died at 2130 hours IST, family members told PTI.

He was put on ventilator soon after he was admitted to the ICU. Bandhu, in his sixties, had undergone a surgery for intestinal blockade last month and was not keeping well for some time.

Bandhu was an MLA from Wazirpur area. He was thrice Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President.

The Delhi government has declared an official holiday on Thursday to mourn the death of Bandhu.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has called an emergency meeting of her Cabinet on Thursday morning, sources said.
