September 19, 2003 22:15 IST

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has become a grandfather.

The president's son, Bilal Musharraf, who works in the United States, flew down to Islamabad as his wife gave birth to a boy in a private hospital on Thursday.

As soon as he was informed of the delivery, Musharraf, 60, rushed to the hospital to bless his grandson.

Musharraf also has a daughter who resides in Karachi.
