Sonia Gandhi turns 58

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and almost all his Cabinet colleagues were among those who drove to Congress president Sonia Gandhi's 10, Janpath residence in New Delhi on Thursday to wish her on her birthday.

President A P J Abdul Kalam sent her a bouquet wishing her many happy returns of the day.

United Progressive Alliance leaders Lalu Prasad, Ram Vilas Paswan, K Chandrasekhar Rao, Praful Patel, T R Baalu, Dayanidhi Maran and Sitaram Yechuri also greeted her in person.

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president M Karunanidhi telephoned her from Chennai to extend his greetings.

Many Congress workers danced outside 10, Janpath. There were also celebrations by Congressmen in various states.
