December 20, 2004 17:24 IST

A court in Kancheepuram on Monday remanded Appu, alias Krishnasamy, a key accused in the Sankararaman murder case, to police custody for three days.

Passing orders on a police petition seeking seven days custody of Appu, who had surrendered in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday, Judicial First Class Magistrate G Uthamaraj, allowed his custody from 1500 IST Monday to 1700 IST December 22.

Appu had been brought to Kancheepuram from Chittoor on Sunday night to be produced before a magistrate.

Kanchi seer Jayendra Saraswati, arrested on November 11, has been cited as the main accused in the case.
