All India entrance examination for admission to undergraduate programme and award of National Talent Scholarship in agricultural and allied subjects other than veterinary science for the academic session 2004-05.
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, will conduct the 9th All India entrance examination for filling up 15% of the total number of seats in State Agricultural Universities, Central Agricultural University, Imphal (Manipur), and 100% of the seats in National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal (Haryana) for Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries Science, Forestry, Home Science, Sericulture, Agricultural Engineering, Dairy Technology, Food Science & Technology and Agriculture Marketing Banking & Co-operation.
Date and time of the examination: Sunday, May 23, 2004 from 10 am to 12.30 pm.
Venue: Different examination centres in the country as mentioned in the information bulletin.
National Talent Scholarship: The National Talent Scholarship @Rs 800 per month shall be awarded to the first 230 meritorious candidates in this examination in each of the ten subjects provided a candidate takes admission in any institution not falling in his/her own home state.
Examination: There will be one question paper consisting of objective type questions in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Agriculture for STREAM-A and Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for STREAM-B as per eligibility and choice of the subjects as defined in Information Bulletin. The question paper will be bilingual ie English and Hindi.
Reservation of Seats: There would be reservation of seats to the extent 15% for Scheduled Caste, 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe and 3% for Physically Handicapped candidates in all subjects.
Eligibility: The candidate must be at least 17 years of age but not more than 23 years on or before December 31, 2004. No relaxation of age will be allowed for candidate of any category.
S/he should be an Indian national.
S/he must have passed and obtained not less than 60% marks (for General Category) and 50% marks (for SC/ST/PH category) of the total marks in PCB/PCM/PCA combinations in 10+2 examination.
S/he must also have passed in English at 10+2 stage.
Any candidate having compartment/supplementary in any subject in the qualifying examination -- 10+2 -- is not eligible for admission.
Candidates should have passed Physics, Chemistry and Agriculture/Biology/Mathematics as full subjects separately at 10+2 level.
One who is appearing for 10+2 examination in 2004 can also apply subject to producing 10+2 passing certificate on the date of counseling.
Information bulletins with application forms will be available for sale from February 26, 2004 and can be obtained against cash payment of Rs 400 + Rs 10 sale charges for General Category and Rs 200 + 10 (sale charges) for SC, ST and PH category from the Syndicate Bank branches: Syndicate Bank, KAB Extension Counter, Pusa, New Delhi 110 012 and Syndicate Bank, F-40, Connaught Place, New Delhi 110 001 and offices of the registrars of State Agricultural Universities located at Jorhat (Assam), Rajendra Nagar, Hyderabad (AP), Kanke, Ranchi (Jharkhand), Mohanpur, Nadia (West Bengal), Hisar (Haryana), Kanpur (UP), Nauni, Solan (HP), Sardar Krushi Nagar, Banaskantha (Gujarat), Pantnagar (Uttranchal), Palampur (HP), Raipur (Chhatisgarh), Jabalpur (MP), Vellanikkara, Thrissur (Kerala), Parbhani (MS), Rahuri (MS), Udaipur (Rajasthan), Faizabad (UP), Bhubaneswar (Orissa), Ludhiana (Punjab), Krushinagar, Akola (MS), Bikaner (Rajasthan), Pusa, Samastipur (Bihar), Jammu (J&K), Srinagar (J&K) Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Bangalore (Karnataka), Dharwad (Karnataka), Dapoli (MS), Nagpur (MS), Pundibari, Cooch Behar (West Bengal), Meerut (UP), and Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Pashuchikitsa Vigyan Vishwa Vidyalaya Evam Go Anusandhan Sansthan, Mathura (UP), and CAU Imphal (Manipur).
The Bank, Agricultural Universities and ACAR Institutes will not send the information bulletin and forms by post and thus, no requests should be made to them in this regard. The last date for sale of application form through these counters on cash is up to March 30, 2004.
Through bank draft from ICAR Institutes: Sale of information bulletin with application forms will also be made from the sale counters of the following ICAR Institutes by depositing Bank Draft of Rs 400 for General Category & Rs 200 for SC/ST/PH category drawn in favour of 'Deputy Director General (Education), ICAR' payable at New Delhi up to March 30, 2004: 1. Central Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar islands. 2. Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Versova, Mumbai. 3. ICAR Research Complex, Ela, Old Goa. 4. National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, Haryana. 5. ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umroi Road, Umiam, Meghalaya. 6. National Academy for Agricultural Research Management, Rajendra Nagar, Hyderabad.
By post: Information bulletins with application forms can also be obtained by post up to March 25, 2004 by sending a written request to 'The Controller of Examination (Education Division), Room 226, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Krishi Anusandhan Bhavan-II, Pusa, New Delhi 110 012.' For this, a demand draft of Rs 450 for General Category and Rs 250 for SC/ST/PH category drawn in favour of 'Deputy Director General (Education), ICAR' payable at New Delhi with a self addressed envelope (size 12" x 10") without postage should be sent. The candidate should write his/her name and address on the back side of the Demand draft. No request for supply of information bulletin by post will be entertained after March 25, 2004.
The information bulletin and application forms can also be obtained in person up to 4 pm on March 30, 2004 (except holidays) by depositing a demand draft without postage and handling charges from the Office of the Controller of Examination, Education Division, ICAR, Room 226, KAB-II, Pusa, New Delhi.
The last date for receipt of application forms in the office of Controller of Examination, Education Division, Room 226, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Krishi Anusandhan Bhavan-II, Pusa, New Delhi 110 012 is April 5, 2004. However, for candidates belonging to remote areas -- Mizoram, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh, Lahaul and Spiti district and Pangi sub-division of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar islands and Lakshadweep -- the last date of receipt of application form is April 20, 2004.
Application forms received after the last date will be rejected. The education division shall not be responsible for non-receipt of application forms within the time schedule due to postal delay or any other reason for delay.
