A non-resident Indian woman from South Africa, who was aspiring to enter Bollywood, was allegedly drugged in a suburban Mumbai pub and raped by two youths two days ago, police said on Saturday.
The culprits, in the age group of 20-25 years, are at large and police have launched a manhunt to trace them.
The victim, staying at Lokhandwala complex in suburban Andheri, went to Bawa International Hotel near the domestic airport on December 29 and after having dinner, visited the pub.
There, she was allegedly drugged by two youths who had befriended her, according to a complaint lodged at Vile Parle police station by her lawyer.
According to the complaint, the NRI met the two men in Avalon pub at Bawa International. The duo allegedly mixed drugs in her drink, which she left on the table before going to the toilet.
Subsequently, she felt nauseous and they offered to help her home. The complaint alleged that the victim was taken to an unknown place, where she was beaten up with a belt and raped.
She was allegedly assaulted and suffered injuries on her person. Police have sent the victim for medical examination and the reports are awaited.
Meanwhile, police have spread a dragnet to nab the culprits, who are at large. Their names and description given by the complainant are being verified.
