Embattled Bharatiya Janata Party president Lal Kishenchand Advani on Wednesday put forth a condition for withdrawing his resignation -- the party must decide if it is with him or against him on the Jinnah issue.

Accepting a resolution of the BJP Parliamentary Board on Wednesday evening asking him to reconsider his resignation from the party chief's post, Advani sought time till Thursday morning to decide.

Advani resigned on Tuesday after coming under a sharp attack from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and its allied orgnaisations for his remarks praising Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, for his secular credentials and nationalism.

Advani now wants the party to endorse his views on Jinnah and the RSS' pet 'Akhand Bharat' theory, which he dumped recently on a tour of Pakistan.

Advani told a delegation of senior party leaders that if the BJP wants him to continue as party president, it will have to also agree with his view of the direction the party must take.
