Sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squad were pressed into service after an anonymous caller informed that a bomb was planted at Mahim railway station of the Western Railway, which turned out to be a hoax.

Platform number 1 was vacated after a caller informed around 4.22 pm that a bomb was planted, spokesperson of the Western Railway said adding, after a thorough search for one hour no bomb was found.

All the trains were diverted through the fast track for one hour and at around 5.40 pm the trains were allowed to go through platform number one, police said.

This is the third bomb scare in the past one week.

On March 28 such a scare was created at Dadar railway station and on March 30 at Bandra railway station.

Coincidently, the caller in all cases had informed that the bomb was planted at platform no 1.
