Maoist rebels exploded a bomb in the house of Bharatiya Janata Party legislator Vikram Usendi in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district on Friday. No one was injured in the incident.

Usendi is a member of the legislative assembly from Pakhanjur, about 210 km from the state capital Raipur. Maoists had attacked him once in the past, when he was a state minister.

The blast was triggered by an improvised explosive device, the police said. The house was vacant at the time of the blast, which damaged a portion of the building.

The Maoists also left some leaflets at the spot, said the police.
