The uproar over the nuclear deal paralysed proceedings in the Rajya Sabha, which was adjourned for the day on Monday after four interruptions.

Heated exchanges were witnessed between Congress and National Democratic Alliance members over some remarks by Leader of the Opposition Jaswant Singh.

The BJP leader took the floor after the NDA's demand for discussion on the deal-- under Rule 168-- which entails voting was rejected by Chairman Hamid Ansari.

The trouble began when Singh in his submission said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] had reportedly stated that those opposing the deal were traitors. Taking exception to this, Congress members were up in arms labelling the remark as an allegation and demanded its expunction.
