Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf [Images] on Friday telephoned Asif Ali Zardari, the husband of assassinated former premier Benazir Bhutto [Images], and conveyed his condolences.

While conveying his "profound grief" at Bhutto's death, Musharraf said he shared the grief of the bereaved family and workers of the Pakistan People's Party. The entire nation is grieved at the demise of Bhutto, he said.

Musharraf also said a high-level inquiry has been ordered to identify those responsible for this "dastardly act of terrorism". He said those people responsible "will be brought to justice".
