Former prime minister V P Singh is expected to visit Nithari village in Noida to meet the families whose children were hacked to death allegedly by Mohinder Singh Pandher, a businessman, and his servant Surinder.

Mayavati, chief of the Bahujan Samajvadi party, actor Raj Babbar, Ashok Pradhan of the Bhartiya Janata Party and Salman Khurshid of the Congress have already visited the house D-5 in Noida's Sector 31 and expressed their resentment over the manner in which the police had been carrying out the investigations.

Six policemen have been suspended in the case by the director general of Uttar Pradesh for dereliction of duty. This includes former station house officers of the police station in Sector 20, under whose jurisdiction Nithari village falls.

So far, mortal remains of 17 children have been identified by their clothes and other belongings.

Six special teams have been constituted to investigate the crime which has shocked the nation.

The state administration handed over cheques of Rs 2 lakhs each on Tuesday but the relatives of the victims have decided not to accept the compensation. They have instead demanded that one person in each family be given a job and a flat along with the compensation.
