Gopinath Munde, who tendered his resignation from the post of Bhartiya Janata Party general secretary and all other party posts, will be summoned to Delhi in an effort to make him address the grievances that forced him to take the extreme step that has shaken the foundation of the party.

"Some of the top party leaders, including party president Rajnath Singh have spoken to Munde on phone and asked him not to precipitate matters and come to Delhi to talk about his problems," a senior BJP leader told rediff.com on Monday morning.

According to sources, others who spoke to Munde include Arun Jaitley and BJP vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.

Jaitley is confident that the matter would be sort out soon.

Munde, brother in law of Pramod Mahajan, had expressed his displeasure the manner in which he was being sidelined in the decision-making process by Nitin Gadkari who managed to push the name of one of his close confidants Madhu Chavan as president of Mumbai BJP party unit president.

He wanted Kirit Somaya as Mumbai party chief. Somaya told rediff.com that he would not associate himself with the decision.

"Our effort is to ensure that the party runs smoothly. I am a party worker first," the said former member of Parliament.

Munde is a mass leader leader and his exit from the party has come as a big jolt.

He accused the party being run more on a kitchen Cabinet style; a handful of people decide what is good or bad for the party, said a leader who is close to Munde.
