Convicted Rashtriya Janata Dal Lok Sabha member from Siwan Mohammed Shahabuddin on Tuesday moved the Patna high court seeking its permission to allow him to go to New Delhi to participate in the trust vote Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] will seek on July 22.

Shahabuddin's counsel filed the petition, which is likely to come up for hearing before a division bench in a couple of days.

The RJD has issued a whip on Monday asking its 24 MPs to ensure their presence in the Lok Sabha when voting would take place on July 22 and support the Congress-led coalition.

Convicted in a kidnapping and murder case of a Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) activist in which he is undergoing life-term, Shahabuddin is lodged in Siwan jail.

Besides Shahabuddin, who had gone to Delhi to take part in the last presidential elections after taking permission from the court, the RJD has another convicted MP Rajesh Ranjan, alias Pappu Yadav, who had been elected from Madhepura.
