Sena women's wing leader attacked in Thane

Sandhya Vadhavkar, head of the Mulund's Shiv Sena's women's wing, was beaten up at the office of Thane Sena chief Anand Dighe. Mahila Aghadi chief Vadhavkar has filed a complaint with Thane Police Commissioner O P Bali.

Vadhavkar claimed that she was called to Dighe's office at around noon. When she asked why she had been summoned, Dighe, she alleged, slapped her. Thereafter, the other Shiv Sainiks in the office kicked her, dragged her out of the office and beat her up, she claims.

Conflicts within the Sena itself are responsible for the incident, say party sources, a view reinforced by the fact that Sena chief Bal Thackeray ordered Vadhavkar to lodge a complaint with the Thane police commissioner.

The Thane police has arrested Haribhau Pashte, a close associate of Dighe, and Milind Joshi, both Shiv Sainiks.
