9 criminals held in Maharashtra

Five criminals were arrested in Bombay and four others including notorious gangster Rajusingh Surendrasingh Bihari in Kolhapur district on Thursday.

According to the police, a speeding autorickshaw was stopped on the A K Road junction in Andheri in north-west Bombay and its occupants Sanjaykumar Yadav and Amarnath Roy were arrested. A handbomb, loaded country-made revolver, five live cartridges and a knife were seized from them.

On further interrogation, their accomplices Pawankumar Yadav, Ravikumar Manoranjan Singh and Gulab Sunder Yadav were nabbed.

Meanwhile, Bihari, who is engaged in supplying illegal arms to the underworld, was arrested along with three of his accomplices near Narande Khind on Vadgaon road after a five-km-long chase.

Acting on a tip-off that Bihari was going to Islampur from Ichalkaranji by a motorcycle, the Hatkanangale police laid a trap and arrested him.

Hailing from Bihar, the Bablu gang member now stays in a rented room at Ichalkaranji. He allegedly took Rs 100,000 from an advocate for a contract killing.
