Day curfew reimposed in Lucknow

Day curfew was reimposed in Lucknow on Monday, when Shia youth tried to court arrest in downtown Hazratganj.

The district administration completely lifted day curfew two days ago. But curfew relaxation was withdrawn on Monday morning in view of minor clashes between Shias and Dargah Hazrat Abbas on Sunday.

The situation in the walled city deteriorated following the arrest of Maulana Kalbe Jawwad, a prominent Shia leader. He is still lodged in the Lalitpur district jail.
