34 killed in bus accident

Thirtyfour people, including 14 women and seven children, were killed Thursday evening when a chartered bus carrying a marriage party fell into a roadside canal at Haligeri, in Karnataka's Haveri district.

Police said some 15 people managed to swim to safety.

The bus carried over 60 people, who were returning to Davangere from Sagar, Shimoga district, after attending a marriage ceremony.
