Mohan Babu gets show-cause notice in AP

The Telugu Desam Party has slapped a show-cause notice on actor and Rajya Sabha member Mohan Babu following his criticism of the party's leadership and his hunger strike against corruption in the state government last week.

That disciplinary proceedings will be initiated against the actor became quite when the N Chandrababu Naidu government declined permission for his hunger strike at N T Rama Rao's samadhi near Tank Bund, Hyderabad. Mohan Babu had to shift the venue at the eleventh hour.

Confirming that a show-cause notice has been issued to the actor, TDP general secretaries C Ramachandraiah and P Manik Reddy said the party leaders and workers were furious with Mohan Babu's provocative statements and his writ petition. He alleged that some vested interests had mislead the Telugu Desam into betraying N T Rama Rao.

The general secretaries said the actor never raised the issue of corruption at party fora, and instead chose public meetings to malign party leaders.
