Bal Thackeray to quit politics

Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray says he will ''quit politics anytime''.

The Sena chief told a rally at the weekend that he would adopt a ''tit for tat'' policy in smashing the underworld in Maharashtra, particularly in Bombay.

''With due respect to audio king Gulshan Kumar, who was killed recently by gangsters, let me say that some people are related and involved with the gangsters and pay the price for it,'' he said.

Sharply criticising Amnesty International, Thackeray said "they should be hammered with slippers because of their changing stance regarding the government action on gangsters."

Announcing his retirement plans, the Sena chief said a new rank of leaders is being created to implement government policies. ''They will take care of organisational aspects, reducing my burden,'' he said.
