Kesri does not rule out snap poll

Congress president Sitaram Kesri on Wednesday said his party would not destabilise the United Front government while maintaining that an early general election cannot be ruled out.

Talking to the media in Patna, Kesri said the future of the UF government will depend on its performance. However, he admitted that the Inder Kumar Gujral government maintained cordial relations with the Congress and termed the working of the UF government as "satisfactory".

On the proposed alliance of the Congress with the Rashtriya Janata Dal in Bihar, Kesri said it would be decided at election time.

About the proposed elections to the Jharkhand Area Autonomous Council, he said the Congress would soon finalise its alliance with the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (Soren).
