Underground road between VT and Churchgate in Bombay

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde on Thursday said an underground mechanised pedestrian service will be provided between the Churchgate railway station and Victoria Terminus in south Bombay.

Talking to the media, Munde said the underground roadway will reduce traffic congestion and save commuters's time. The project will cost around Rs 500 million.

The decision to construct the one-km-long underground roadway was taken at a meeting of the railway and the state government officials held to take stock of the Bombay Urban Transport Project's progress, he said.
