Bondi Beach Bondi Beach is a Sydney trademark -- the city wouldn't have been the same without the beach. And Sydneysiders are fiercely protective of this bit of sea-rimmed sand. At times, this protectiveness can have humourous overtones -- when work began, on May 8, for the construction of a beach volleyball stadium for the Olympics, there was a protest.
