Andal Amma receives the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, India's highest sports award, and Rs 300,000, on behalf of her son, hockey centre-forward Dhanraj Pillay. Dhanraj led the team that won the 1998 Asian Games gold medal at Bangkok.
