The race started with a big blow to McLaren's bid for a victory as Mika Hakinnen's car stalled on the grid. The big duel between the Schumachers never took place as partner Juan Pablo Montoya who came in right behind Schumacher. For the Ferrari fans, a straight seventh Schumi victory looked very much in sight!
