Jordan takes on "Air" apparent Carter in Toronto

The Michael Jordan preseason comeback tour moved north of the border on Thursday when the returning basketball legend shared the floor with "Air" apparent Vince Carter of the Toronto Raptors.

The high-flying Carter, known as "Air Canada" -- a play on the "Air" Jordan nickname -- scored 31 points to lead the Raptors to a 113-96 victory over the Washington Wizards.

But the 38-year-old Jordan, returning to the NBA after three years in retirement, turned in another solid all-round effort for the Wizards as he continued to prepare for his first regular season since 1998.

Jordan already extended one of his own records this week by appearing on the cover of the Sports Illustrated magazine for the 50th time.

The five-time league MVP and six-time NBA champion with the Chicago Bulls played 27 minutes and scored 22 points for the Wizards.

Jordan hit 5-of-17 shots from the field and was a perfect 12-for-12 from the line. He scored half of his 22 points in the first quarter.

In addition, Jordan had three rebounds, four assists, two steals and recorded a game-high three blocked shots.

Carter, who many have considered the heir apparent to Jordan in his absence, made 10-of-23 shots, including 4-of-7 from three-point range.

Carter added seven free throws in as many tries and had five rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks.

Jordan and the Wizards have one more preseason tune-up against the Boston Celtics on Friday.

His regular-season comeback will be in New York against the Knicks on Tuesday night.
