Hewitt, 20, and Roddick, 19, marked the youngest matchup of US Open quarterfinalist since 1984 when 19-year-old Pat Cash beat 20-year-old Mats Wilander in four sets.

Hewitt is attempting to become the first player since Andre Agassi (1989) to lose in the semifinals one year, then make the semifinals a year later.

In a 3-hour, 40-minute duel which ended, No. 4 Lleyton Hewitt beat American phenom Andy Roddick 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 to advance to his second straight US Open semifinal.
