US Open 2001

It was Hingis’ sixth semi-final at the US Open, but it was too much hard work against Serena’s focus & power.

The No.1 seed didn’t have the physical tools to compete when Williams belted serves as fast as 115 mph and smacked 18 winners while committing only 10 unforced errors.

Hingis had won six of her 10 previous head-to-head matches with Williams, including the last three before Friday's match.
