The Parisian crowd in the Bercy stadium was intimidating and hostile. The French, who were 2-1 up in the final of the Davis Cup, looked to claim the crown in the fourth rubber itself but Russians Marat Safin amd Mikhail Youzhny decided otherwise.
In Sunday's first reverse singles, Safin battered Sebastien Grosjean (in pic) into a 6-3, 6-2, 7-6 submission to level the tie at 2-2.
