Two seeded players fall by the wayside

Local qualifier Sabyasachi Bose pulled off a major upset, ousting fourth seeded Al Imron of Indonesia, while seventh seed Imanuel Prawabo of Indonesia also fell by the wayside in the first round of the boys' singles matches in the ITF Junior World Ranking tennis meet at the DKS Complex in Kolkata on onday.

The unfancied Bose displayed an aggressive brand of tennis to demolish the much higher-ranked Imron in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, in a match that lasted nearly 45 minutes.

Wildcard Rupesh Roy justified the faith the organisers put in him to carve out a stunning 6-1, 6-2 win over seventh seeded Imanuel Prawabo, who became the second casualty on the opening day.

All the other seeded players in both the boys and girls' sections kept their reputation intact by romping into the second round though some of them had to struggle a bit before prevailing over their opponents.

Top seed Amanjot Singh of India had no difficulty in disposing of Israel's wildcard entrant Mickey Lasser 6-0, 6-2 while second seeded Jaco Matthew of India got the better of Harris Ermanda Tedjokusuma of Indonesia with a facile 6-2, 6-2 victory.

Third seeded Rishi Behl of India did not have to sweat much as he prevailed over compatriot Rewanth Dutta with an easy 6-2, 6-4 verdict to move into the second round.
