The Olympic Medals

The Salt Lake Olympic Committee's (SLOC) senior creative team designed the medals along with Salt Lake City firm Axiom.

The designs were then given concrete form by O.C Tanner, a Salt Lake company where each medal was hand crafted.

Mitt Romney, the president of SLOC, said they wanted a medal "that not only had meaning to the athlete but was also considered a piece of art".
