Olympic gold is Abhinav Bindra's
top priority

After another spectacular performance on the European circuit, ace shooter Abhinav Bindra says an Olympic gold is his top-most priority now.

"The Olympic gold is my aim now and I am working towards it. Winning the (gold) medal is no joke as it is the ultimate in any sport," Bindra, who rounded off the European circuit with a rich haul of five gold, five silver and three bronze medals, said.

Maintaining a high score of about 595 throughout, Bindra gave a superlative display of shooting at the circuit for the second successive year and even beat World champion Dick Boshman for the gold in an invitational event in Germany.

"It feels good that I maintained an average score of 595 throughout the series and won laurels for my country. I have been consistent from the start of the series and I look forward to maintaining this," Bindra said in an email interview from Germany.

He said beating Boshman was the high point of his performance in Europe though consistent high scores were what he was most concerned with.

"He (Boshman) is a class shooter and gives a very good fight every time. It was nice that I could get the gold after a high score of 701.1 against Dick in a championship at Ulm (Germany). He also scored exceptionally high at 701. For me, beating him does not matter much and the only point of consideration is high scores," he said.
