Harikrishna for chess World Cup

World chess body FIDE has cleared rising star Pendyala Harikrishna to participate in the second World Cup chess tournament, to be held in Hyderabad, in October.

India, being the host country, has the privilege of fielding a second candidate along with defending world champion Vishwanathan Anand, All India Chess Federation secretary P T Ummer Koya told reporters on Friday.

FIDE also approved the venue, Ramoji Film City (RFC), which will host the event for the first time.

Earlier, Walt Disney Studio in Paris had hosted the World Rapid Chess tournament in 1994, 1995 and 1996.

Koya said Koneru Humpy would be given advanced and higher level coaching if she desires.

He also informed that the 16-year-old Harikrishna would be sponsored by State Sports Authority and trained by Russian coach Evegeny Bladimarov.
