Zoe Baker of England (left) is hugged by Sarah Poewe after the latter charged home in 30.57 seconds to win the second semi-final of the women’s 50m breaststroke and set a new world record.

Her time beat the previous best of 30.83 seconds, set by Penny Heynes (RSA) at the Sydney Olympics two years ago.
