Indians placed 11th in Nations Cup

India made a disappointing start to tie for the 11th position along with hosts Singapore, after the opening round in the Nations Cup, which began at the Laguna National Golf and Country Club's Classic Course in Singapore on Thursday.

The Indian team of Digvijay Singh and Gaurav Ghei tallied two-under 70 under the four-ball format, to sit four strokes behind the leaders.

Thailand and Myanmyar, despite a two-and-a-half hour weather delay, led the field at an impressive six-under 66.

Thailand's Jamnian Chitprasong and Pornsakon Tipsanit emerged as the surprise package with their performance.

Myanmar's Kyi Hla Han and Aung Win fell into a tie for the lead after both players endured three-putt bogeys at the par four 18th hole while Finland ended the day in third place, one stroke behind the leaders. 

The Phillippines was tied with Guam and Holland for the fourth place at four-under 68.

The top four teams at the Nations Cup will qualify for the World Golf Championships-World Cup at Kiawah Island, United States in November.
