India thrash Ireland in third Test

August 04, 2004 14:31 IST

The Indian hockey team bounced back from their shock defeat to thrash Ireland 6-2 to win the third and last Test in Cologne, Germany.

Star striker Gagan Ajit Singh and Sandeep Singh led the Athens bound team's charge with a brace each. Veteran forward Dhanraj Pillay and skipper Dilip Tirkey scored the other two goals in last night's win.

The Indians had suffered a jolt in the second Test when they went down 2-3 to Ireland after winning the first Test 2-0 on Sunday.
