India's Karan Rastogi stormed into the quarter-finals�in the Canadian Open junior tennis championships at the Club de Tennis de Repentigny, in Quebec on Thursday, scoring�a�7-5, 6-4 victory�over formidable Jeremy Chardy of France.

The second seeded Rastogi was forced to endure a tight opening set against Chardy, a top 20 player who reached the�semi-finals at�the junior Wimbledon championships earlier this year, but was in command in the second set.

Earlier, in the second round,�Rastogi, who received a first round bye,�got the better of Van Der Dum Antal of the Netherlands 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.

He was given top billing in the doubles, with partner Yi Chu-Huan of Chinese Taipei, but withdrew because of�the�US Open next week.

Rastogi will reach New York for the US Open on September 4.
