Top seeds Leander Paes [Images] and Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia crashed out in the first round of men's doubles in the US $650,000 Pilot Pen tennis tournament in New Haven, USA.

The duo lost to Tommy Haas [Images] of Germany [Images] and Jurgen Melzer of Austria 4-6, 6-7(4/7) after a keenly-fought contest that lasted an hour and 20 minutes.

Earlier this month, the duo had crashed out in the second round of the 2.2-million-dollar ATP tennis tournament in Montreal, Canada [Images].

Mahesh Bhupathi [Images] and his Czech Republic partner Martin Damm [Images], seeded second, will take on Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram [Images] of Israel in the first round of the same event.
