Bhupathi-Damm shocked

Mahesh Bhupathi [Images] and Martin Damm [Images] were shown the door in the first round of the US $650,000 Pilot Pen tennis tournament in New Haven, USA. The second seeds were beaten by the Israeli pair of Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram 6-1, 1-6, 4-6.

Top seeds Leander Paes [Images] and Nenad Zimonjic had earlier crashed out at the same stage.

At the US Open [Images] qualifiers, Shikha Uberoi defeated Yulia Beygelzimer of Ukraine 0-6, 7-5, 6-3 to advance to the next round of the women's singles.

Likewise, Harsh Mankad cleared the first hurdle, beating Tim Snyczek of the United States 6-3, 6-2. In another match, Prakash Amritraj beat Nicolas Mahut of France [Images] 7-6(7/4), 6-4.
