Davis Cupper Harsh Mankad clinched the ITF Futures men's singles title with a 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Kamil Capkovic of Slovakia in the final in Chennai on Saturday.

He secured a cash prize of USD 1950 and 24 valuable ATP points along with it.

Mankad, who has played in 11 Davis Cup ties and having won a singles match against China recently in Delhi, did not exert much in his 64 minute victory against Capkovic.

The Indian star ran up a 3-0 lead and subsequently made it 5-2 before breaking the eighth game of Capkovic for the first set.

In the second set, 25-year old Mankad, who had won an ITF event in England [Images] last month, raised his game to greater heights.

Capkovic was subdued and did not put up much fight and even some of his shots went wide. Most often, the Slovakian played into Mankad's hands.

After Mankad took a 5-0 lead, the writing on the wall was clear for Capkovic who managed to win his sixth game before losing the match.
