India's Boniface Prabhu won the doubles title in the 2005 Japan [Images] Open Wheelchair Tennis Championships (Quad Division) Super Series in the company of his New Zealand [Images] partner Richard Paige.

The duo defeated the Japanese pair of Hirano and Kawano 6-1, 6-0.

The Bangalore-based Prabhu lost the singles final to the hosts' Kakinokihara Ryuji 4-6, 1-6.

"It's a good beginning for me as the Super Series is equivalent to the Grand Slam. I am taking part in the forthcoming tournaments -- French, Dutch and Belgium championships," he said after winning the doubles title.

A winner of the 2004 Florida [Images] Open Wheelchair Tennis Championship last year, Prabhu, currently ranked 40 in the world, has been playing wheelchair tennis for a decade now.

He had in the past reached the final of the US, British, French and Australian Opens.
