Ace shooter Abhinav Bindra shot an impressive score of 598 out of 600 in the second trial of the 10m Air Rifle event for selection in national squad at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Ranges at Tughlakabad in New Delhi on Monday.

The Athens Olympic finalist, who appeared in superb form during the two trials, had fired an incredible 599 in the first trial on Sunday.

Another Olympian Gagan Narang also made waves by scoring 596, which was a point less that his Sunday's mark of 597 in the first trials.

In the women's event, the top score was registered by world record holder Suma Shirur who bounced back strongly with a score of 399 out of 400, a point less than her world record of 400.

Asian Championships gold winner Tejaswani Sawant carded the second best figures of 396 while another junior shooter Navdeep Dhillon scored 395 among the prominent participants.

The four-day trials, which concluded on Monday, were conducted for the air weapon events.

National squad for important competitions, including Commonwealth Games and Asian Games scheduled next year, will be finalised after the national championships at Hyderabad in December.
