Leaders Dempo Sports Club came from behind to down local giants Mohun Bagan 2-1 in the National Football League in Kolkata on Sunday.

It was Bagan which forged ahead in the 25th minute through skipper Bhaichung Bhutia but Ranti Martin levelled the score for Dempo before the lemon break. Climax Lawrence scored the match winner for the Goan outfit in the second half.

By today's win, Dempo consolidated its already established lead with 10 points from five outings, of which they emerged victorious in three. Bagan, on the other hand, lie lower down the table with only four points from equal number of matches.

Bagan started the proceedings well today and looked determined to stage a come back and improve their standing. Backed by the home crowd in Salt Lake stadium, they took the lead when Bhutia tapped home from a goalmouth melee.

Dempo, however, bounced back and equalised 11 minutes later when Martin scored with a powerful volley following a combined move.

It was Martin who set up the match winner with a defence splitting through which found Lawrence on top of the box with only Bagan custodian Subrata Paul in front of him. Lawrence made no mistake to seal the fate of the green and maroon brigade with a neat placement.
