Number two seed Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic reached the semi-finals of the $416,000 Munich Open on Friday with a 6-4, 6-0 win over unseeded Frenchman Nicolas Devilder.

Berdych, the world number 12, will play third seed Mikhail Youzhny for a place in Sunday's final after the Russian beat Austria's Juergen Melzer 6-2, 7-6 earlier on Friday.

Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber also advanced to the semis, beating France's Sebastien Grosjean, conqueror of top seed Tommy Haas, 6-4, 7-6.

Kohlschreiber will take on former Australian Open semi-finalist Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus, the number four seed.

Baghdatis advanced after defeating German doubles specialist Alexander Waske 2-6, 7-6, 6-4.
