World Billiards: Indians win

Indian players, including Pankaj Advani [Images], Rupesh Shah and Geet Sethi scored easy victories during the opening day of the IBSF World Billiards Championship in Bangalore on Monday.

In league matches of the Championship (points format), the trio scored easy 3-0 victories.

Defending Champion of points format Shah defeated S M Shaharwardi of Sri Lanka [Images] 151-53, 151-35, 150-21 while Advani beat Calum Hossack of Scotland 151-5, 150-0, 151-17. Sethi was too good for Teik Chong Alan Puan of Singapore 150-66, 151-93, 153-0.

Devendra Joshi (India) bt Arvind Savur (India) 3-0 (151-37, 150-98, 151-29);
Praprut Chaithanasakun (Thailand) bt Darren Taylor (New Zealand [Images]) 3-0 (151-27, 151-39, 150-24)
Suriya Suwannasingh (Thailand) bt Gary Oliver (New Zealand) 3-1 (150-49, 150-146, 96-150, 150-91);
Sourav Kothari (India) bt Thanh Binh Nguyen (Vietnam) 3-1 (150-68, 150-87, 80-150, 150-107).
