Qatar Airways introduces new flight from Bombay to Munich

Qatar Airways has introduced a new flight to Munich from Bombay via Doha every Monday.

QR 201 departs from Bombay at 1015 hours IST and arrives in Doha at 1105 hours local time. It arrives in Munich at 1845 hours local time.

The return flight QR 004 departs from Munich at 2230 hours local time and arrives in Doha at 0545 hours local time. The passengers then board flight QR 202 that departs at 0715 hours local time and arrives in Bombay at 1325 hours IST.

The excursion fare, valid for four months, is Rs 45,170. Discounts of up to about 12 per cent are available at your local travel agent.

New flights to the Gulf

Indian Airlines has launched two new flights between Sharjah and Delhi.

The economy class excursion fare for a round trip -- valid for three months -- is Rs 15,030. The economy class fare for a round trip -- valid for a year -- is Rs 22,655.

Air-India will introduce two new flights between Madras and Dubai from June 7.

  • AI 755 will depart from Madras at 1820 hours and will arrive in Dubai at 2045 hours, local time, on Wednesdays.
  • AI 756, the return flight, will depart from Dubai at 0930 hours, local time and will arrive in Madras at 1500 hours, on Wednesdays
  • AI 759 will depart from Madras at 1200 hours and will arrive in Dubai at 1430 hours, local time on Sundays.
  • AI 758, the return flight, will depart from Dubai at 1530 hours, local time and will arrive in Madras at 2100 hours, on Sundays.

The two flights are in addition to the Saturday flight from Madras to Sharjah.

Air-India starts international flights to Amritsar

Air-India has introduced a biweekly flight from Amritsar to New Delhi. AI 5111 will depart from Amritsar on Wednesdays and Sundays at 0145 hours IST. AI 5112 will depart from New Delhi on Wednesdays and Sundays at 0005 hours IST.

From New Delhi passengers can connect with flights to various international destinations. However, all formalities -- immigration, customs, booking of baggage -- can be completed in Amritsar.

Kenya Airways introduces a Bombay-Lagos flight

Kenya Airways has started a flight from Bombay to Lagos via Nairobi on Sundays and Wednesdays.

KQ203 departs from Bombay on Wednesdays at 0450 hours ISTand reaches Nairobi at 0825 hours local time. From Nairobi KQ403 departs at 1000 hours local time and reaches Lagos at 1305 hours local time.

AI starts a direct flight from Hyderabad to Singapore

AI 424 departs from Hyderabad on Sundays at 1600 hours IST and arrives in Singapore at 2320 hours local time. And AI 422 departs from Hyderabad at 0755 hours IST on Tuesdays and arrives in Singapore at 1515 hours local time

AI 425 departs from Singapore on Mondays at 0040 hours local time and arrives in Hyderabad at 0245 hours IST. And AI 423 departs from Singapore at 1925 hours local time on Tuesdays and arrives in Hyderabad at 2130 hours IST.

The return economy class, three months excursion fare is Rs 17,255 plus taxes. The business class fare for two -- companion flies free -- is Rs 32,780 plus taxes.

There are no first class seats to Singapore from Hyderabad.

Lufthansa hopes to increase frequency of flights

Lufthansa German Airlines hopes to expand its network and offer daily flights to Bombay and Madras by the end of the year, should the Government of India grant permission.

Lufthansa criticised the government for ''restricting its traffic rights''. Apparently the airline's appeals for granting of daily flights to Madras and Bombay has fallen on deaf ears.

A Lufthansa spokesman declared that the airline would continue to lobby the government to grant daily flights, as there was a tremendous opportunity to increase traffic between India and Germany and the Indian market was suffering from under-capacity.

At present there are daily flights only to New Delhi. And Lufthansa flies five times a week to Bombay and three times a week to Madras.

Air-India has introduced a direct flight to Chicago via London.

AI 123 will depart on Tuesdays from Bombay at 0515 hours IST and reach London at 1015 hours local time. It will depart from London at 1200 hours and reach Chicago at 1445 hours local time.

AI 127 will depart on Fridays from Bombay at 0515 hours IST and reach London at 1015 hours local time. It will depart from London at 1200 hours and reach Chicago at 1445 hours local time.

AI 125 will depart on Sundays from Bombay at 0900 hours IST and reach London at 1330 hours local time. It will depart from London at 1530 hours and reach Chicago at 1815 hours local time.

The excursion fare, valid for four months, is Rs 46,860. Discounts of 10 per cent or more is available at a travel agent.

South African Airways has introduced a fourth flight between Bombay and Johannesburg on Fridays.

SA 279 will leave Bombay at 0230 hours IST and reach Johannesburg at 0735 hours local time. And SA will leave Johannesburg at 1015 hours local time and reach Bombay at 1220 hours IST. Thus South African Airways will now fly Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Fridays.

The round trip economy fare is Rs 36, 380. However discounts are available with travel agents.

Asiana Airlines, a Korean airline run by the Kumho group has started a flight service between New Delhi and Seoul.

OZ348 will depart on Mondays and Thursdays from New Delhi at 0100 hours IST and reach Seoul at 1205 hours local time.

The round trip economy fare is Rs 57,105. However discounts are available at your local travel agent. The airline dubs itself as 'one of the world's youngest airlines' with the 'most modern fleet'. All its flights are nonsmoking.

Singapore Airlines now has a daily flight from Madras to Singapore.

Flight SQ 409 departs from Madras at 2320 hours IST and it arrives in Singapore at 0545 hours local time, daily.

Royal Nepal Airlines has introduced a new flight from Bombay to Kathmandu.

Singapore Airlines now operates direct flights from Bombay to Manchester, North of England.

Northwest Airlines has introduced a flight service out of India. The airline flies in and out of India, from New Delhi three times a week and from Bombay four times a week

Northwest Airlines is the alliance partner of the Royal Dutch Airline KLM. These flights will conveniently supplement the KLM flights that already fly out New Delhi four times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and Bombay three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

From Amsterdam's Schipol Airport it is possible to transfer, with minimum waiting period, to any of Northwest's many direct flights to the US and Canada -- Washington DC, Atlanta, New York City, Newark, Boston, Montreal, Memphis, Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, Vancouver, Toronto, San Francisco, Los Angeles or Houston. Or onto to any of KLM's flights bound for leading European cities like London, Frankfurt, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Brussels, Munich, Milan, Geneva, Paris or Madrid.

Northwest Airlines will share office space with KLM and are contactable through any of the KLM offices located in major Indian metros.

Singapore Airlines has added a new flight, a Boeing 777, from New Delhi to Singapore.

Singapore Airlines will now flies out four times a week from the Indian capital to Singapore, as opposed to three times a week earlier. The additional flight will deaprt on Saturday.

Singapore Airlines' flight SK 407 departs from New Delhi at 2300 hours on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The flight arrives in Singapore at 0615 hours local time on the next day.

Singapore Airlines has plans to fly out of New Delhi to Singapore six times a week, by next April and to fly out of Bombay and Madras to Singapore daily, in the near future.

Emirates, the international airline of the UAE will add two new flights from Bombay to Dubai, effective October 26.

The two new flights will operate every Wednesday and Friday, offering a fifteen per cent increase in seat capacity. EK 505 will depart from Bombay at 0945 hours IST on Wednesday and Friday. Emirates operates flights to Dubai on six days of the week.

Cathay Pacific now operates weekend flights from Bombay to Dubai, Bangkok and Hong Kong. The flights to Dubai leaves Saturday and Sunday while the flights to Bangkok and Hong Kong leave on Sunday.
