India expresses 'deepest anguish'

Josy Joseph in New Delhi | March 20, 2003 16:22 IST

India on Thursday expressed its 'deepest anguish' over the attack on Iraq.

The ministry of external affairs said the military action 'lacks justification'. From all pronouncements of the weapons inspectors, it appeared that military action was avoidable.

The government has offered to extend all possible humanitarian assistance to the people of Iraq.
